A relevant law enforcement agency official verified this incident and said the injured persons are still in the hospital.

On the afternoon of [October] 16 at 5:20pm, a netizen named “xao小箱”, whose place of registration appears as Fujian province Xiamen city, posted a weibo that said, “This morning, 3 chengguan officers had sulfuric acid thrown at them in the Tong’an district of Xiamen city, and are being treated at No. 3 Hospital.” This weibo attracted many netizens’ attention. Yesterday morning, another media figure said, “On [October] 16, in the Tong’an district of Xiamen city during a joint law enforcement operation with the Land and Resources Bureau, the City Management and Administration Law Enforcement Agency had sulfuric acid thrown at them, causing injury to 18 chengguan team members.

Yesterday, Xiamen city Tong’an district City Management and Administration Law Enforcement Agency Joint-Section chief confirmed this incident to this Beijing Times reporter and said the chengguan team members were handling a Land and Resources Bureau’s aerial photography case at the time of the incident, and this incident caused various degrees of burns to 19 chengguan team members with 18 of them being hospitalized for treatment.

When this reporter called the Xiamen Public Security Propaganda Department, a worker responded that the number of injured were “not that many”, saying the police were investigating this incident and declined to disclose details.
