Henan Town Has Married In 23 Vietnamese Wives Over Past 6 Years

According to recent media reports, Linqi town of Lingzhou city in Henan province has married in 23 Vietnamese daughter-in-laws over the span of several years. The relatively inexpensive costs for finding love and marriage, relatively high quality of the marriage partners [women], and traditional values and lifestyle have enticed some of the young men in the town to head to Vietnam to “find a wife”.

2013 July 24, Henan Linzhou Linqi, over the past several years, the locals have married in 23 Vietnamese girls. Though they have already integrated into the local life, they say they too have their difficulties: Among them, none of them have yet obtained Chinese nationality or permanent residency. Vietnamese bride Liang Shichui helping at her husband’s older sister’s tea shop. Liang Shichui’s impression upon the locals is that of someone who is “pretty, familiar with Chinese language/customs, and is doing well”. For this kind of international marriage, language is often a barrier. However Liang Shichui says, there are a lot of specialized training organizations in Vietnam, where girls can register and after studying for a month or more are able to have everyday conversations with Chinese people.

Liu Weihua and He Shihuan’s family of three. Liu Weihua is from Weijian village of Linqi town, the first man in the village to take a Vietnamese wife. In 2010 when he was working in Ninh Bing of Vietnam, he met a girl amongst his fellow workers, who is now his wife He Shihuan’s younger sister. Through her introduction, he and He Shihuan met and fell in love, and what more, very quickly “felt they could get married”.

Responding to [网易广东省广州市网友(220.243.*.*)], the two of us are currently working in Beijing, and not being able to afford a home in Beijing is certain, which buying a car being even more difficult, can’t get a lottery number [to get a license plate]. Anyway, her work is only a 20 minute walk away while I ride the subway for over an hour whereas driving would take an entire morning without getting to the company. It’s better to spend the money vacationing/traveling.
